Medical Tourism in Turkey: A Safe Planning Guide

Medical tourism in Turkey should be planned around an individual clinical need, a named doctor and hospital, informed consent, travel risk and reliable follow-up. National popularity, price rankings or annual statistics do not prove that a procedure is suitable or safe for one person.

This page is the starting point for everything we publish on treatment in Turkey. Each section below answers the question briefly and then points to the page that answers it properly. The order is the order the decisions actually arrive in: whether to travel at all, whether the operation suits you, who will perform it, what it costs, what the week looks like, and what happens if something goes wrong.

First decide whether to travel at all

Turkey is not automatically the right answer, and the comparison is usually reduced to price, which is the least interesting part of it. The real differences are regulation, what happens in the days after surgery, and what a revision involves when your surgeon is a flight away rather than a train ride away. Our comparison of Turkey versus the UK sets those out, including the cases where staying at home is the better choice: a significant medical condition needing close monitoring, too little time off to recover before flying, a budget with nothing left over for a complication, or recovery away from family that you would find genuinely distressing.

If the question underneath is whether we can be trusted with it, that is a fair question and we answer it directly on is Revitalize in Turkey safe? — what you can verify before committing, what we do not promise, and the risks that come from travelling rather than from surgery.

Then decide whether the operation suits you

Surgical candidacy is settled before any deposit, and a surgeon who declines is doing the job properly. Assessment runs across physical health and ASA grade, weight, smoking, anatomy, skin quality and previous surgery, mental health and expectations — set out in full in how surgeons assess surgical candidates. Where weight is the limiting factor, BMI before surgery explains why the threshold differs by procedure and what optimisation actually means.

No operation is risk-free anywhere in the world. Understanding surgical risks covers the seven categories that make up informed consent, from anaesthesia and bleeding through infection and thrombosis. Read it before the consultation rather than after it.

Verify Revitalize providers

Confirm that the proposed doctor and hospital are current Revitalize partners and that their experience matches the procedure. Ask who provides anaesthesia, where treatment occurs and how complications are managed. JCI accreditation can add organisational context for a currently accredited named facility but does not guarantee an outcome.

The same checks apply to any provider in any country, and how to check a clinic in Turkey sets out eleven of them, beginning with identifying the legal entity and the named clinician rather than the brand. For us specifically, the checkable detail — registered company, named surgeons, the private hospitals in İzmir where treatment takes place, and the independent review platforms we do not control — is on our clinic facts page. Our checklist of questions to ask before cosmetic surgery is written to be used on us as much as on anyone else.

Clinical assessment and consent

Share health conditions, medicines, allergies, smoking, prior procedures and relevant test results. Discuss alternatives, including no treatment, material risks, expected limitations and the possibility of further care. Translation should support—not replace—direct consent with the clinician.

Quotation and travel

Obtain a written Revitalize quotation naming inclusions, validity and unexpected-care arrangements. Our published price list sets out the starting figures before you ask: FUE hair transplant from £2,450, rhinoplasty £4,150, top surgery £4,850 and dental implants from £350. Each surgical package covers your nights at Mandarin Grove, transfers and aftercare, so accommodation is not a separate cost to budget for; flights and any schedule changes are your own. Your figure is confirmed in writing after individual assessment, before you book anything. Fitness to fly, infection prevention, mobility, sun or water exposure and return to work depend on the procedure.

Some procedures are quoted individually rather than from a list because the extent of surgery genuinely varies; what decides the cost of a facelift explains how such a quotation is built and how to compare two quotes that look far apart but may not be.

The week around the operation

Most surgical packages keep you in Turkey for about a week, because that is how long post-operative checks take before it is safe to fly. Our treatment process page sets out that week stage by stage, from the first consultation and the airport transfer through pre-surgery checks to the follow-up appointments before your flight home. Recovery itself happens at Mandarin Grove in Urla rather than a hotel room, with English-speaking support through the night and a companion able to stay with you.

Recovery decides more of the result than patients expect

Two patients having the same operation from the same surgeon on the same day can have measurably different results a year later, and most of that difference comes from what each of them did afterwards. How recovery affects final results covers the eight factors that matter, including wound healing, sleep, nutrition and stopping smoking.

Aftercare

Know who provides review in Turkey and after returning home, what symptoms need urgent help and how records are shared. Patient stories and before-and-after images can provide context but cannot predict another person’s outcome.

If something goes wrong

Decide what you are entitled to before you travel, not afterwards. Our treatment guarantee states in writing what is covered and for how long, what is excluded, and how to make a claim. We also publish what patients have complained about rather than only what they have praised: the recurring criticisms in published reviews, and how a problem raised after treatment is handled, are on our complaints page.

Use Revitalize’s medical-tourism information, contracted doctor profiles, treatment process and official contact route. For the checkable detail behind all of this, see our clinic facts and our plain comparison of Turkey versus the UK, including when staying at home is the better answer.
