Keratoconus Treatment and Cross-Linking in Turkey
Revitalize in Turkey offers assessment and treatment for keratoconus, including corneal cross-linking, through its eye hospital and ophthalmologists. Cross-linking uses riboflavin (vitamin B2) and ultraviolet light to strengthen the cornea. Its principal aim is to slow or stop progression, rather than guarantee clearer vision or remove the need for glasses or contact lenses.

When is cross-linking considered?
Your ophthalmologist assesses whether keratoconus is progressing using your history and corneal measurements. The thickness and condition of the cornea affect whether and how treatment can be offered. Bring earlier scans if available: comparison over time can be more useful than a single measurement.
Cross-linking and vision correction have different roles
Glasses or specialist contact lenses may still be needed to improve vision after treatment. Cross-linking is not the same as laser vision correction. Ask your ophthalmologist which part of the plan addresses progression and which addresses your day-to-day vision.
For background on the condition, read our keratoconus treatment guide.
What happens during treatment?
The clinical team will explain the proposed technique, anaesthesia and aftercare before you consent. Do not assume a particular cross-linking protocol is right for every cornea. Ask why the recommended approach suits your measurements and how your response will be monitored.
Risks and recovery
Discomfort, light sensitivity and blurred vision can occur during recovery. Risks include infection, corneal haze or scarring, delayed healing and reduced vision. Treatment may not stop progression in every case, and further treatment may be needed. Follow the prescribed drops and review schedule; do not change them using general information online.
Will I still need follow-up after returning home?
Yes. Follow-up is needed to check healing and monitor the cornea over time. Before travelling, agree who will provide these checks and how results will reach your treating team. Ask for individual guidance on flying, work, driving and contact lens use. Seek urgent eye care for sudden worsening of vision or severe or increasing pain.
Planning treatment in Turkey
Before arranging travel, ask for the proposed hospital and treating ophthalmologist, the assessment schedule, the expected length of stay and the follow-up plan in writing. A remote enquiry helps organise your assessment; it cannot confirm surgical suitability.
What will my treatment cost?
Request an individual written quotation after your case has been assessed. Check whether the quote is for one eye or both, and whether consultation, scans, treatment, medicines and follow-up visits are included. Ask separately about accommodation, transfers, additional treatment and care after returning home. A price from another hospital or country is not a Revitalize quotation.
Prepare your enquiry
Tell us your country of residence, your diagnosis or main concern, previous eye procedures and the timing you are considering. If you have a recent prescription or eye reports, ask our team how to share them securely. Do not post medical documents in public comments.
