Ptosis Surgery in Turkey: Drooping Eyelid Assessment
Ptosis is a drooping upper eyelid caused by a problem with the structures that lift it. Revitalize coordinates ophthalmic assessment and treatment in Izmir. The cause, eyelid muscle function and eye health determine whether surgery is appropriate.
Request an ophthalmology assessment
Is ptosis surgery the same as blepharoplasty?
No. Ptosis surgery addresses the position of the eyelid margin; blepharoplasty removes or reshapes excess skin and tissue. Some people have both problems, but one operation does not automatically treat the other. A brow droop also needs to be distinguished from true ptosis.
What does an assessment involve?
The ophthalmologist measures eyelid height and muscle function and checks the eye surface and vision. Visual field testing or further investigation may be needed. A suddenly drooping eyelid, especially with double vision, headache or a pupil change, needs urgent medical assessment before elective surgery is considered.
Procedure options and limitations
The technique depends on the cause and how well the eyelid lifts. Your surgeon explains the planned repair, anaesthesia and expected adjustment in lid height. Exact symmetry cannot be promised, and treating one side may reveal drooping on the other.
Risks and recovery
Possible problems include under-correction or over-correction, contour changes, asymmetry, dry eye and difficulty closing the eye. Further surgery may be needed. Follow the prescribed eye protection and wound care plan, and obtain advice on review dates, driving and flying. Severe pain or deteriorating vision needs urgent assessment.
Requesting a treatment proposal
Ask whether the plan covers ptosis correction alone or an additional procedure, one or both eyelids, hospital and anaesthesia fees, medicines and follow-up. Confirm the treating ophthalmologist and facility before booking. Accommodation and transfers should follow your clinical requirements.
