How Much Does Gender-Affirming Surgery Cost?

Gender-affirming surgery cost cannot be reduced to a universal price list. The total depends on the individual’s goals, clinical assessment, procedure, named surgeon and hospital, anaesthesia, tests, travel and aftercare.

Procedures and individual planning

Gender-affirming care can include chest, genital, facial, voice or body procedures. Not every person wants surgery, and procedures that share a broad label can involve different techniques and risks. Assessment should address physical health, medicines, smoking, fertility considerations, emotional support and realistic goals.

What a written quotation should show

  • The named surgeon, hospital and proposed procedure.
  • Surgeon, anaesthesia, operating theatre and hospital-stay charges.
  • Tests, implants or devices, medicines and garments where applicable.
  • Planned follow-up and who handles an urgent problem.
  • What is excluded and how a changed clinical plan affects cost.

Loans and insurance are financial products separate from clinical suitability. Revitalize does not treat a low monthly payment, a package price or accreditation badge as proof that a procedure is appropriate.

Risks and recovery

Risks vary and may include bleeding, infection, blood clots, anaesthetic complications, scarring, altered sensation, urinary or sexual-function changes, implant problems, wound healing difficulties and revision surgery. Recovery and time away from work must be personalised by the treating team.

Revitalize can confirm the currently contracted doctor and hospital and coordinate an individual plan through the contact route. Related information includes chest surgery. NHS England describes specialist assessment and multidisciplinary support within its gender services programme.
