Gender-affirming surgery cost cannot be reduced to a universal price list. The total depends on the individual’s goals, clinical assessment, procedure, named surgeon and hospital, anaesthesia, tests, travel and aftercare.
Procedures and individual planning
Gender-affirming care can include chest, genital, facial, voice or body procedures. Not every person wants surgery, and procedures that share a broad label can involve different techniques and risks. Assessment should address physical health, medicines, smoking, fertility considerations, emotional support and realistic goals.
What a written quotation should show
- The named surgeon, hospital and proposed procedure.
- Surgeon, anaesthesia, operating theatre and hospital-stay charges.
- Tests, implants or devices, medicines and garments where applicable.
- Planned follow-up and who handles an urgent problem.
- What is excluded and how a changed clinical plan affects cost.
