Start with the procedure and indication

Assessment should cover health, medicines, smoking, previous treatment, anatomy, reasons and expectations. Alternatives may include no treatment or a non-surgical option. The operating surgeon should explain the proposed technique, limitations, material risks and realistic recovery.

Verify the care team
