Brachioplasty (arm lift) removes and reshapes selected excess skin and tissue of the upper arm. Suitability, scar length and the need for liposuction depend on anatomy, skin quality, weight stability, health and goals.

Assessment and surgical plan

The surgeon should review health, medicines, smoking, previous surgery, arm shape and expectations. The written plan should identify the incision, whether liposuction is included, anaesthesia, named surgeon and contracted hospital.

Risks and recovery

Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid collection, delayed healing, wide or prominent scars, asymmetry, contour irregularity, altered sensation, lymphatic swelling, blood clots, anaesthetic complications, dissatisfaction and revision. Healing and return to work or exercise vary; a fixed recovery date cannot be promised.
