For patients in South Africa
Skin treatments in Turkey from South Africa: a plain guide
This page brings together the skin and aesthetic-medicine treatments we arrange in İzmir, written for patients travelling from South Africa. It covers minor skin procedures carried out by a doctor, such as mole or wen removal, and non-surgical facial, anti-ageing and IV treatments. Each has its own South African guide, linked below.
In short: We coordinate four minor skin procedures (wen, mole, recurring ingrown hair and anal or genital wart removal) plus facial, non-invasive, anti-ageing and IV treatments. We do not offer ongoing dermatology care for long-term conditions such as acne, psoriasis or eczema. A doctor reviews your photos and details before anything is booked, and South Africans travel with an e-Visa via Istanbul to İzmir.

What we do and do not treat
If you are looking for dermatology in Turkey, know the limits first. Our skin procedures are planned, one-off treatments carried out by a doctor at our partner clinic after assessment. We do not provide ongoing care for acne, psoriasis, eczema or other long-term skin conditions; a dermatologist at home who can see you regularly is the better choice. If your concern is not listed here, ask and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Minor skin procedures
Each links to a South African guide.
- Wen removal — removal of a slow-growing lump under the skin, as a minor surgical procedure
- Mole removal — for moles that are bothersome or that a doctor advises removing; a mole that has changed is assessed first, and the doctor advises whether the tissue should go to a laboratory
- Ingrown hair treatment — for ingrown hairs that keep coming back or become infected, often after shaving or waxing
- Anal warts treatment — removal of warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), with the method chosen after examination
The UK overview of these procedures is on our skin conditions page.
Facial, non-invasive, anti-ageing and IV treatments
The non-surgical side has four category guides:
- Facial treatments — non-surgical treatments for the skin of the face
- Non-invasive skin treatments — device-based treatments that work without incisions
- Anti-ageing treatments — treatments offered for signs of ageing such as lines and loss of volume; injectables are given by a doctor after assessment
- Recovery boosters — IV drips and related wellness treatments
Results of these treatments vary from person to person, and none of them is a substitute for medical care.
Is the trip worth it for a small treatment?
Often not on its own. A long-haul trip only for one small lesion or a single short non-surgical session is hard to justify. These treatments usually make more sense combined with another treatment you have already planned in İzmir; the doctor decides what can safely be done on the same trip.
How the process works
- Send photos and a short description online
- A doctor reviews your details and confirms whether the treatment is suitable, before you book travel
- We arrange your appointment and, where your plan includes them, accommodation and transfers in İzmir
- The treatment is carried out at our partner clinic
- You receive written aftercare instructions
Planning the trip from South Africa
- Flights: direct flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Istanbul take around ten hours, followed by a short domestic flight to İzmir
- Visa: South Africans apply for an e-Visa online before travelling; see the e-Visa guide
- Medicines: tell us about your medical history and everything you take, including blood thinners
- Fitness to fly: ask the doctor how long healing will take, whether you will have stitches and when it is safe to fly
- Time difference: İzmir is one hour ahead of South Africa, which makes follow-up calls and messages easy
- Cover: South African medical schemes generally do not cover elective treatment abroad, so check with your scheme before you book; standard travel insurance usually excludes planned treatment abroad
What decides the cost
The treatment, the number and size of any lesions, the doctor’s assessment and what your plan includes. Our pricing is transparent, and a personalised quote follows the consultation.
Follow-up at home
Our support team stays in contact after you return. For one year, our treatment guarantee covers medical complications arising from treatment and clinically necessary revisions, but not a preference for a different aesthetic result within what was discussed. Facts about the clinic are on the clinic facts page, and problems are handled through our complaints page.
What we will not do
We will not book treatment before a doctor has reviewed you, take on long-term skin conditions we cannot follow, or promise a result.
Frequently asked questions
Do you treat acne, psoriasis or eczema?
No. We do not offer ongoing dermatology care for long-term conditions such as acne, psoriasis or eczema. Our skin treatments are planned procedures and non-surgical treatments listed on this page.
Do I need a consultation before I travel?
Yes. A doctor reviews your photos and details first, so you know whether the treatment is suitable before you book flights.
How long should I stay in Turkey?
It depends on the treatment and on any follow-up check. These are minor procedures, and the doctor confirms the time you need during your consultation.
Is it worth travelling from South Africa for one small skin treatment?
Often not on its own. These treatments usually make more sense combined with another planned treatment in İzmir, and the doctor decides what can safely be done on the same trip.
Will my medical aid cover skin treatment in Turkey?
South African medical schemes generally do not cover elective treatment abroad, and standard travel insurance usually excludes planned treatment abroad. Check with both before you book.
