Who it suits
People in good general health with sagging along the jawline, jowls, loose neck skin or banding, who want a long-lasting surgical correction and have realistic expectations. Before surgery the surgeon examines the face and neck, assesses skin elasticity, reviews your medical history and plans where the incisions will go.
The operation and recovery
Incisions run around the ear and hairline. Deeper tissues are lifted and repositioned, loose skin is trimmed, and the neck muscles may be tightened. Early on, expect swelling, bruising, tightness in the face and neck and mild to moderate discomfort that medication controls. Keep your head raised, avoid strenuous activity, follow wound care instructions and attend every check. Risks include swelling, bruising, temporary numbness, asymmetry, visible scarring, haematoma and, rarely, infection.
