Clinical checks

Assessment commonly includes prescription stability, corneal mapping and thickness, pupil size, dry-eye evaluation, eye pressure and retinal and optic-nerve examination where indicated. The clinician should review medicines, pregnancy or feeding, autoimmune or healing conditions and previous eye treatment.

When treatment may be unsuitable

Unstable prescription, inadequate corneal tissue, irregular corneal shape, significant dry eye or active eye disease may delay or rule out treatment. Some occupations also have specific vision or procedure standards. Glasses, contact lenses, another procedure or no surgery may be safer.
