Droopy Eyelid Surgery: Restore Your Youthful Appearance
Droopy eyelid surgery may refer to ptosis repair, blepharoplasty or another procedure. A drooping lid can relate to eyelid muscle or tendon function, excess skin, nerve or muscle conditions, injury or other causes, so diagnosis comes before cosmetic planning.
Assessment
An eye specialist may assess eyelid height and movement, vision, pupils, eye movements, dry-eye symptoms, brow position, health, medicines and onset. Sudden drooping—especially with double vision, pupil change, weakness or severe headache—requires urgent medical assessment.
Procedures and limits
Ptosis repair adjusts eyelid-lifting structures; blepharoplasty removes selected excess tissue. They are not interchangeable. Surgery cannot guarantee symmetry, a youthful appearance or improved vision.
Risks and recovery
Risks include bleeding, infection, dry or irritated eyes, poor eyelid closure, over- or under-correction, asymmetry, scarring, double vision, visual disturbance and further surgery. Recovery varies; no first-48-hour protocol establishes a percentage reduction in swelling.
