Cheek augmentation options
Cheek contour may be changed with an implant, injectable filler or, in selected cases, fat transfer. These approaches differ in duration, reversibility, anaesthesia, recovery and risk. An assessment should consider facial structure, skin, dental and sinus health, previous treatment, medicines and goals.
How to evaluate images responsibly
- Look for consistent lighting, pose and camera distance.
- Ask when the after image was taken.
- Compare patients with broadly relevant anatomy.
- Confirm that consent was obtained for image use.
- Use images to support—not replace—a clinical discussion.
Risks and realistic expectations
Implant risks include bleeding, infection, altered sensation, asymmetry, movement or exposure and further surgery. Filler risks include swelling, bruising, infection, lumps and rare vascular complications that can threaten skin or sight. Fat transfer may be unpredictable and can require further treatment. No technique guarantees symmetry, permanence or satisfaction.
