Breast Auto-Augmentation: Technique, Risks and Cost
Breast auto-augmentation generally reshapes existing breast tissue during an uplift to add selected upper-pole support without an implant. The term is used differently by surgeons, so the exact technique and limitations must be described.
Assessment and alternatives
The surgeon should assess breast volume, skin, droop, asymmetry, health, medicines, smoking, previous surgery, weight stability and pregnancy or feeding plans. Alternatives can include no surgery, uplift alone, implant augmentation, fat transfer or reduction.
Risks and limitations
Risks include bleeding, infection, delayed healing, visible scars, asymmetry, altered nipple sensation, loss of skin or nipple tissue, difficulty breastfeeding, recurrent droop, dissatisfaction and revision. Existing tissue cannot always create the fullness achievable with an implant.
Understanding cost
Request an itemised quotation naming the contracted surgeon and hospital and covering technique, anaesthesia, tests, medicines, stay, follow-up, exclusions and complication arrangements. “Affordable” packages do not establish equivalent clinical scope or safety.
