VASER High-Definition Liposuction: Risks and Care Checks
VASER high-definition liposuction uses ultrasound-assisted fat removal to emphasise selected contours. “High definition” is a planning and marketing term; it does not guarantee visible muscles, tight skin, a rapid recovery or a particular body shape.
Assessment and alternatives
Assessment should cover fat distribution, muscle anatomy, skin elasticity, weight stability, health, medicines, smoking, previous surgery and blood-clot risk. Alternatives may include no operation, conventional liposuction, another assisted technique, treatment directed at loose skin or a different procedure after examination.
Risks and recovery
Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid imbalance, burns or heat injury, contour irregularity, asymmetry, altered sensation, skin injury, scars, blood clots, fat embolism, anaesthetic complications, dissatisfaction and revision. More detailed sculpting can also make irregularities more visible. Recovery, garments, drainage, work, travel and exercise timing are individual.
The NHS liposuction guide explains the operation, recovery and possible complications.
