Liposuction and Tummy-Tuck Costs: Planning Combined Surgery

Liposuction and tummy-tuck costs reflect different procedures. Liposuction removes selected fat through cannulas; abdominoplasty removes selected excess skin and may repair abdominal-wall separation. One does not substitute for the other, and either may be performed alone or combined after assessment.

Choosing the procedure

The surgeon should assess health, medicines, smoking, weight stability, skin elasticity, fat distribution, muscle separation, scars and goals. Liposuction does not reliably tighten substantial loose skin. A tummy tuck is not a weight-loss operation and leaves permanent scars.

Risks of combined treatment

Risks can include bleeding, infection, fluid collection, wound separation, skin or fat loss, altered sensation, contour irregularity, asymmetry, visible scars, blood clots, fluid shifts, anaesthetic complications and revision. Combining procedures can increase operating time and recovery demands.
