Facial liposuction removes selected fat through small incisions, commonly around the chin or neck. It cannot guarantee a particular jawline, replace a facelift or correct every cause of facial fullness or loose skin.
Assessment and alternatives
Assessment should consider fat distribution, skin elasticity, facial anatomy, weight stability, health, medicines, smoking, previous treatment and expectations. Alternatives may include no procedure, weight management, another liposuction technique, treatment directed at skin laxity or a different operation after diagnosis.
Risks and recovery
Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid collection, contour irregularity, asymmetry, altered sensation, nerve or skin injury, scarring, blood clots, anaesthetic complications, dissatisfaction and revision. Swelling can temporarily obscure the result. Garments, massage, work, travel and exercise timing must follow the operating surgeon’s individual plan.
