- Near: tasks such as reading a book or checking a phone.
- Intermediate: tasks at arm’s length, such as using a desktop computer.
- Distance: tasks such as recognising signs or looking across a room.
These are useful task categories, not guaranteed performance or exact working distances. Bring examples from your routine: your normal reading distance, monitor position and lighting. Ask how the proposed model is expected to support those tasks and where glasses may still help.

Suitability for an operation and suitability for trifocal optics are separate questions. Tell the ophthalmologist about previous laser or lens surgery, existing eye conditions, dry-eye symptoms and medicines. Ask how the health of the rest of your eye affects the lens recommendation.
