RECOVERY
SMAS facelift recovery timeline
Days 1–3: Rest with your head elevated to help minimise swelling. Mild discomfort, swelling, bruising, and tightness around the face and neck are expected during this period. Cold compresses may be recommended to help reduce swelling.
Days 4–7: Swelling and bruising begin to improve, although the face may still feel tight. Most patients feel comfortable resuming light daily activities and are typically able to fly home after 5–7 days, subject to their surgeon’s approval.
Weeks 2–6: The majority of swelling gradually subsides, revealing a smoother, more defined jawline and youthful facial contours. Most patients return to work and normal daily activities within 2 weeks, while strenuous exercise should be avoided until cleared by your surgeon.
Months 3–6: The tissues continue to settle, incision lines gradually soften and fade, and the final results become fully visible, providing long-lasting, natural-looking facial rejuvenation.
