Spec. Dt. Kutay Karaca

Spec. Dt. Kutay Karaca is a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry whose work centres on preserving natural teeth wherever possible and restoring them to both function and natural appearance. He entered Ege University Faculty of Dentistry in 2009 and qualified as a dentist in 2014, defending a master’s thesis on Occlusion in Implant-Supported Prostheses.

Rather than moving straight into general practice, he sat the Turkish dental specialty examination (DUS) in 2015 and took up a post as Research Assistant in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Dentistry, where he completed four years of formal specialist training. He qualified as a Restorative Dentistry Specialist in 2019, having defended a thesis on the effect of titanium dioxide nanotubes on the water absorption and solubility of low-viscosity bulk-fill flowable composite resins.

That academic route matters in practice. Restorative dentistry is a recognised postgraduate specialty in Turkey, and relatively few dentists complete it — most work as general practitioners. The training is specifically concerned with the science of dental materials, adhesion, and conservative treatment: understanding exactly how composites, ceramics and bonding systems behave over time, and how to save a tooth rather than replace it.

His patients frequently describe cases where teeth previously assessed as needing extraction were instead saved through root canal treatment and fiber post restoration — an approach consistent with his specialty’s conservative philosophy. He practises at his own clinic in Bayraklı, Izmir.
