LASIK Eye Surgery in Turkey

LASIK reshapes the cornea in minutes to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism — with clear vision usually returning within a day.

Most patients can fly home 1–3 days after surgery. Vision typically improves within the first few days, with full stabilisation over the following weeks or months depending on the procedure.

THE PROCEDURE

What is LASIK eye surgery?

LASIK corrects common refractive errors by precisely reshaping the cornea, allowing light to focus correctly on the retina for clearer vision.

Unlike glasses or contact lenses, which temporarily compensate for vision problems, LASIK addresses the underlying cause of short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. A thin corneal flap is created — with IntraLase femtosecond technology for a completely blade-free procedure — before the laser reshapes the tissue beneath. The flap is then repositioned, allowing most patients to see clearly within 24 hours.

At Revitalize in Turkey, every LASIK treatment is carefully planned around your eye health, prescription, and visual goals. Our experienced ophthalmic surgeons use advanced laser technology and comprehensive pre-operative assessments to confirm your suitability, delivering excellent visual outcomes alongside the exceptional value and personalised care that have made Turkey a leading destination for eye treatment.

ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Am I a suitable candidate for LASIK?

Most adults over 18 with a stable prescription for at least 12 months are suitable. Suitability depends on corneal thickness, prescription strength, and overall eye health — confirmed during your pre-operative assessment. Patients with thin corneas, very high prescriptions, or severe dry eye may be better suited to PRK.

Does LASIK hurt?

No. Anaesthetic drops numb the eye completely. You may feel light pressure during the procedure and mild grittiness or watering for a few hours afterwards.

How long does the procedure take?

Around 10–15 minutes for both eyes, with the laser itself active for under a minute per eye. You'll be at the clinic for approximately two hours in total.

How quickly will I see clearly?

Vision usually improves within hours, with most patients seeing clearly the next morning. Minor fluctuations and night glare can continue for a few weeks as the eyes settle.

When can I fly home?

Most LASIK patients can fly the day after surgery, following a post-operative check. We recommend allowing 2–3 nights in Turkey to be safe.

Are both eyes treated on the same day?

Yes, both eyes are treated in the same session — standard practice for LASIK and more convenient for patients travelling from abroad.

Are the results permanent?

The corneal reshaping is permanent. However, LASIK doesn't prevent age-related changes, and most people still need reading glasses from their mid-forties onwards (presbyopia).

How is LASIK different from PRK?

LASIK creates a thin corneal flap, giving faster recovery and less discomfort. PRK removes the surface layer instead, which takes longer to heal but suits patients with thinner corneas.

When can I return to work and normal activities?

Desk work is usually possible within 1–2 days. Avoid eye makeup for one week, swimming and gyms for two weeks, and contact sports for one month.

Do I need to stop wearing contact lenses beforehand?

Yes. Soft lenses should be removed 7–14 days before your assessment, and rigid lenses 3–4 weeks before, as they alter corneal shape.
